Jam Jar

In this transition, each of us has become future-ready even before we thought of it, similarly, we have also obtained so many options unlatched. When we were kids, we all wanted to become a doctor, someday a lawyer, or maybe run a business or something. Skip to 20 years and you see different career choices right in front of you. The follow-up question is how does one know which career is best suited for them? So, I happened to recently read this book The Defining Decade by Meg Jay- which had a very beautiful case study I’d like to share. It is called the Jam experiment, so they choose a local grocery store to understand one's life choices. So, there were two conditions, one which has six flavors available for tasting, whereas in the second condition it has six plus the eighteen more flavors of jam. Cut to the chase study showed that the twenty-four-flavor table attracted more attention yet resulted in fewer buyers. Shoppers flocked to the exciting array, yet most became overwhelmed

The Ride of a Lifetime

Disney is something we have grown up watching. So, I have been longing to read this book by Robert Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company. If you like reading business books then this is definitely a quality choice to make, so again if you don’t like reading or not aspiring to be CEOs this leadership book can help you in personal life too. These are six takeaways from this book: 1. Leadership : Iger tells why is it vital to create space in daily life to let your thoughts wander your job. While sharing his journey he mentions his relation with Steve Jobs and how he always remembered him and his lessons and one beautiful thing Iger mentions about him is that “How Steve was great weighting all sides of an issue and not allowing negatives drown out positives, particularly for things he wanted to accomplish.” That’s a powerful quality to learn.  2. Innovation: As this happened in an early 2000' due to rapid change in technology, they had to adapt it. Time in time Iger recalls

You never know what someone is going through

As someone who usually takes times to process information which comes to me as a disclosure, my mind gets completely shut. I take attempts when to take something to heart and when not. Of course we get clarity as we grow old. Today it's about  everyone who is going through something with a happy exterior. We assume situations who has either acted discourteous or have hurted us by certain piece of information, you might be inseperable with that person but sometimes that's what is inside them and you still may never know about it. There is always a reason for that certain kind of behaviour. It didn't crop me that even if the person is transparent he might not have the courage of talking as he may not want to get judged hence drawing a viel over his feelings. When the cruel reality is revealed I think it's more about the person who said it rather than you. Try to know the reasoning of their behaviour, and if you feel to give a second chance and trying to make things work i

Memories stay with us forever!

We come across so many people in our lives, sharing different equations with an individual. So many words spoken and unspoken, so many thoughts shared, so many emotions, so many memories, happiness, rejection, grief, and what not.  Each of us would definitely have some of the notable memories with someone be it even a stranger. Such moments stay immortal with us it doesn't matter whether it was positive or negative. Times have been such that it could be with someone whom you are in touch or maybe lost contact, but it's memories that associates you. Nevertheless there might not be a logic behind why do you recall certain specific incident but it stays in your mind forever.  We can either engrave the sweet memories and bury the painful in the grave and move on. I have seen people, who brood over the past, hence failing to make future it's victim. Some souvenir are such that you need to carry along with you, they become your shadows a part of yourself. Whereas they would never

The diary of a young girl by Anne Frank

Image
I am so grateful that this lockdown has made me catch up with my reading habit. Just so I recently read a book  named "The Diary of a Young Girl" Now again if you have desire to read something historical and encouraging you should definitely give it a shot. Giving you little gist it's a story of a 14 year old girl Anne Frank who has articulated her thoughts in a diary, when they had to hide in an attic behind a bookshelf during holocast. First and foremost this book has literally given me the motivation to stay up at home. Reason being there were times when she had longing to behold nature when she couldn't. Her writings are so unfiltered which had showed clarity of what she really sensed. Anne, somehow always had a constructive approach and had patience  which if you see one must possess. When she wrote "If we can save even one of our friends, the rest doesn't matter" her family always believed in helping people no matter what the situation were. I pers

Becoming: Michelle Obama

Image
Michelle Obama is someone who I always looked upto. I am moved by her personality and her desire towards teeny boppers. Recently I watched her documentary based on bestselling book by the same name "Becoming". Honestly I was verklempt by the end and it was just the instinct for me to share.  I like the thing about her about how she challenged things, when someone who told her that her going to study at Princeton was too big to think and lo and behold she made it happen.  Someone who is so amenable and is on the loose to talk about her vulnerability and the deep things what every youth feels. "We can't afford to wait for the world to be equal to start feeling seen." Her words are so rousing that it's just not about whining instead start creating an impact, the world will adjust. Determining what your self-worth is plays a major role. She leads a perfect example for me of how to stay grounded even when you reach for the sky.  It's just that whatever seems

Mumbai

Image
Mumbai, as rightly said is not just a city but an emotion. This situation has really amazed us on shutting down of things for a while and we miss them. Lifeline of the city, locals have been shut, this is the longest interruption of services we have come across. Being late and seeing the train late too, is such a blessing in disguise, and ofcourse during the peak hours how adventure it is to travel. Where each of us would unquestionably have a story to talk about. Hearing some strangers gossips and then pretending that you did not listen, oh c'mon all of us do that. From every song you listen, and the joy of the window seat is all that you need. Every friend who is your travel partner. Unlike other Indian cities where we have ‘train friends’ who by virtue of travelling everyday in the same railway compartment become friends. Next thing which occurs my mind and I miss the most is Juhu beach where begger would have definitely tried tricking you, but just better be smart!. I would say

Emotions

Image
Emotions are just so sensitive and obviously difficult to understand on an individual level. Just so I felt the need to talk about how I feel at that phase. I just hope you can resonate, at some level. For me and maybe most of us keeping our mental architecture is top most priority, but yes sometimes you get stuck at a certain thought and then you find nothing is going right off the path. It's a deadlock, you just don't like to talk to anyone. It is a sense where you just want to disconnect or maybe isolate with the rest of the world. Also it's a static in your brain, and you are just so unfocused. Sometimes when you are physically present and emotionally into some other zone.  When you fear to share your emotions to people as they mirror back saying "I feel the same way." World where everything is running through Artificial Intelligence it has almost forced us to be their slaves.  Sometimes we tend to forget human string of compassion, hope, dreams. Instead we ai
