Jam Jar

In this transition, each of us has become future-ready even before we thought of it, similarly, we have also obtained so many options unlatched. When we were kids, we all wanted to become a doctor, someday a lawyer, or maybe run a business or something. Skip to 20 years and you see different career choices right in front of you. The follow-up question is how does one know which career is best suited for them? So, I happened to recently read this book The Defining Decade by Meg Jay- which had a very beautiful case study I’d like to share. It is called the Jam experiment, so they choose a local grocery store to understand one's life choices. So, there were two conditions, one which has six flavors available for tasting, whereas in the second condition it has six plus the eighteen more flavors of jam. Cut to the chase study showed that the twenty-four-flavor table attracted more attention yet resulted in fewer buyers. Shoppers flocked to the exciting array, yet most became overwhelmed

4 business books you must read

The one most familiar thing that I have heard from my friends is that they wish to read business books but can’t decide which one to start from. Everyone has a different taste and some books may work for you while some may not. So, I thought of recommending you 4 best business books I have read which I found had nuggets of gold and are worth giving it a shot.

1. Ambani and Sons:
I have been meaning to find Polyester Prince but it wasn’t available and I came across this book. The book is very catchy and will hold your attention till the end. The way the author has started would already convince you to know what’s further? When Dhirubhai asserted ‘Jealousy is a mark of respect’ I felt it was just impeccable. This book explains the whole evolution of Indian business including the gloomy side of Indian business and politics. You also get an insight of an old school Gujarati family man and a mastermind building a first-class foundation. Later on, this book also explains the dispute between two sons and how they continued the legacy of Ambani. You need to read this book without a doubt.

2. Zero to One:
This book is very easygoing. It’s a book about creating new things and how to adapt them by time. Just take the first step without hesitation which is intensive growth and then to “1 to n” i.e., extensive growth. Most people find it easier to reach somewhere when they are already somewhere. Just take the first step towards starting. I read very beautiful examples of businesses which were mainstream until that one crazy idea talking about Tesla- Sure, Tesla didn’t invent the idea of electric cars but they launched the viability and established usage of electric cars much sooner than most thought possible. Another example I read was of google the company changed the concept of online searching, which still holds a major amount of market share.

3. Ride of a Lifetime:
I have made a blog earlier about this book, it’s one of my favorite collections. It walks you through the journey of Walt Disney, the way Robert Iger has shared his thoughts will make you dig more about his life. There are remarkable takeaways from the book. It's about leadership, innovating, keeping faith in whatever you do and finally about finding the balance. Approach of this book has become a bedrock of every project and partnership Iger purses. There are many things to learn when you read books by such famous personalities; as they navigate our professional and even personal lives.

4. Think and Grow Rich:
This book is not exactly a business book but a self development book. Also, I think it's the most important financial book one can ever hope to read. Having a burning desire can do wonders to reach wherever you want to be. This book has very wonderful anecdotes and short poems. However, it enlightens upon very essential things like having faith, planning, hard work and how to control your mind. It’s a very classic book but I felt that there were stories which did not catch much of my attention. If you are someone who wishes to start reading this book could be great to start with.
