Jam Jar

In this transition, each of us has become future-ready even before we thought of it, similarly, we have also obtained so many options unlatched. When we were kids, we all wanted to become a doctor, someday a lawyer, or maybe run a business or something. Skip to 20 years and you see different career choices right in front of you. The follow-up question is how does one know which career is best suited for them? So, I happened to recently read this book The Defining Decade by Meg Jay- which had a very beautiful case study I’d like to share. It is called the Jam experiment, so they choose a local grocery store to understand one's life choices. So, there were two conditions, one which has six flavors available for tasting, whereas in the second condition it has six plus the eighteen more flavors of jam. Cut to the chase study showed that the twenty-four-flavor table attracted more attention yet resulted in fewer buyers. Shoppers flocked to the exciting array, yet most became overwhelmed

Minimalism

I have always been fond of watching documentaries which carry value. Minimalism is one of those documentaries which I wanted to watch and try using in my life too. Minimalism in simpler terms is living with less. Sounds absurd? Right? Why would someone not want a good lifestyle?

Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus have helped millions of people to lead a meaningful life by their podcasts, books and website. In the documentary they share their journey while launching their new book; answering questions which mainly each of us would have. Let me be clear this is not about degrading your lifestyle but about cutting things which are unnecessary. More like preferring quality life over quantity. Marketing has played such a role in our lives that we tend to buy things in excessive quantities.

Currently the problem seems how we assign our stuff; we tend to give too much meaning to our "things" often taking our health for granted, our relationships, our passions, our personal growth, and our desire to contribute beyond ourselves. Like if you want to own a car, phone or anything it's obviously good, but minimalism helps you to make a conscious decision for the same. It's a tool that assist you to find freedom.

There are plenty of people who share their experiences of how they changed their lives. I know it's not quite easy for us to follow those things but at the same time as humans we should atleast try eliminating what we can. Even the small things can make a huge difference in long run like clearing your phone clutter, cleaning your wardrobe or prefer walking sometimes at nearby places instead of using vehicles.

When you begin to do these things you realise that one gets clear view for life; you shift your focus to more important things and which are better needed to thought upon.

I hope I could convey the message to you in best possible way and recommend you to watch this documentary on Netflix also let me know if you have read any books by these authors.
Let me know your views also thankyou for taking time out of your schedule to read this blog.
