Jam Jar

In this transition, each of us has become future-ready even before we thought of it, similarly, we have also obtained so many options unlatched. When we were kids, we all wanted to become a doctor, someday a lawyer, or maybe run a business or something. Skip to 20 years and you see different career choices right in front of you. The follow-up question is how does one know which career is best suited for them? So, I happened to recently read this book The Defining Decade by Meg Jay- which had a very beautiful case study I’d like to share. It is called the Jam experiment, so they choose a local grocery store to understand one's life choices. So, there were two conditions, one which has six flavors available for tasting, whereas in the second condition it has six plus the eighteen more flavors of jam. Cut to the chase study showed that the twenty-four-flavor table attracted more attention yet resulted in fewer buyers. Shoppers flocked to the exciting array, yet most became overwhelmed

Change is the only constant

Everyday is a fresh start, each daylight is different from the other. We face changes in our regular life be it in our schedule, relations, simple weather changes and so on. We have to absorb these changes however the way they are.

Considering the situation which we all are going through, and where every second people are fading. Do you ever take a moment to be grateful that you can read this while you are alive? Earlier we couldn't operate as it was a sudden stop to our lives; our brains simply couldn't process that we had shut into our homes. The shock was such that we realized that our social life needed to be held back. More like our fast living life was forced to be on a break.

Beauty about human is that we don't settle for anything, we need time but we adapt. One essential thing we realise in such situations is that we have to pull out time for ourselves. I have seen that people have started reacting practically for their health and priorities.

Changes affect us all, this only constant in life but it always shows the ray of hope. We started finding things which can make us happy. In my stand point initially I felt that I couldn't be more productive so first thing I did was to organize thoughts. Ask yourself reason for your uncertain behavior? If you still find yourself tangled with your thoughts wake up without checking any social media, make your bed, exercise be it even in 20 min, trust me it can make you feel lot more better and I am sure it will work for you too. Next thing which you could do is READ, read as much as you can, it can make you feel calm and composed and a thousand times better. If you aren't into reading catch a hobby be it cooking, dancing, learning a new language but stay occupied. I agree that on some days we fear or get a feeling of being judged for what we do and that's where the last thing we want is change. You can't change of what can happen and you need to remember that any circumstance or changes cannot recite your life.

You need to accept the change, cope with strategies that help you not fall for old pattern of a behavior. Accept what comes and bring the best out of it. You need to embrace these changes as it creates a huge impact in long term of how we will survive.

All in all, change happens to be constant in life.
Pandemic has taught us alot and the bright side is that if something like this wouldn't have happened; we won't understand the importance of spending time with family, we wouldn't have passed our time reading more books, working out, meditating and starting to exploring things that we love. For which I am already happy of what we are becoming from this new change.
Your life can look so different, so much better, in just few months. Keep Going, after all change is our new constant.

  1. Totally agree on this. Change is the only constant. Very well written. One must be flexible enough in todays world and must adapt to every situation. Keep coming.
